National Health and Aging Trends Study: The Data Collector's Job
The National Health and Aging Trends Study (NHATS) collects information related to issues regarding how life changes as we age. NHATS focuses on the social and economic consequences of late-life disability for individuals, families, and society and trends in late-life functioning. Data collectors locate, obtain cooperation, and interview Medicare recipients 65 years and older in their homes. One of the unique aspects of NHATS is the use of standardized activities to measure cognition, hearing, vision, as well as physical strength, balance and coordination. The NHATS video displays several of the activities that NHATS data collectors are required to safely and accurately demonstrate, administer, and score.
